Essential Motorcycle Protection
Motorcycles are inherently more dangerous than an automobile, and as such, extra precautions are necessary to ensure safety when you hop on your bike. Firstly, it is imperative that you have an in-depth understanding of the various laws and regulations associated with riding a motorcycle. Not only do you need understand these laws, but it is also essential that you follow them at all times.
In addition to being alert and responsible on the bike, donning the appropriate motorcycle garb is critical. While a helmet is obviously the most important piece of protective equipment, a leather jacket creates an effective shield for your torso. Well-fitting men’s leather motorcycle jackets not only protect against flying debris but also guard against road rash in the unfortunate event of a spill.
Spring Time
The weathe
rs finally getting warm the robins are back the grass is starting to green up. People are out in their yards cleaning up the winters damages and the site of motorcycles with their riders dressed in Black Leather Jackets are becoming plentiful.
With spring finally here in the north everyone seems to be getting the itch to get their motorcycles out and hit the roads. There are allot of hazards out there on the roads to be aware of in the spring and for that matter all year but especially in spring. There are salt and calcium chloride residues that spring rains haven’t taken care of and then there’s the infamous sand especially in the corners. It can do allot of damage to your bike if following someone else not to mention it also hurts. So be careful and safe riding.
Rolling Thunder
What is i
t? How did it start? What’s it all about? To start it’s a motorcycle ride that originates in California and ends in Washington D.C. It is a ride that is in memory of all of our servicemen and women who are POWs or MIA from all wars past and present. It is also for the dedication of the people to fight for our govenment to look for and bring back all POW and MIA past and present.
It started in 1987 when Ray Manzo spotted some fellow marines at the reflecting pool at the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. and asked them for help. The idea to host a motorcycle ride in the nations capital to show the country and the world that abandoned American soldiers in Vietnam still mattered to their fellow servicemen and the country for which they sacrificed their freedom.
It’s quite the site with 20,000 plus bikes proudly flying the Stars and Stripes and the black and white POW MIA flags and Black Leather Jackets and blue jeans meet chrome and sound like approaching thunder. It’s in my mind got to be one off the most honorable tributes to American servicemen that there is on memorial day. It is one of those tributes that all of us should become a part of in some form on memorial day.
Rolling Thunder
Rolling thund
er what is it? Some may say it’s the sound of an approaching storm, others may say it’s the sound of an approaching train and yet other say it’s the sound of a bunch of motorcycles. A Group of motorcycles with their riders all adorned in their Black Leather Motorcycle Jackets and leather gear does have a rumble similar to that of an approaching storm.
But when I think of the term Rolling Thunder I think of the motorcycle ride that is from coast to coast each memorial day in honor of our countries veterans and fallen soldiers. It’s a ride to the wall that is a memorial in honor of serviceman who have given their lives for their country and to protect the freedom of us the citizens of the United States of America. It’s also to honor all those missing in action and those who have served and are serving in present and past wars and conflicts. I think we the people of the United States all need to reflect and honor all those who served and have served this great nation. The people of the military give and put their lives at risk for all to give us the freedoms and liberties we all enjoy.
Spring
It’s just around the corner and it’s a welcome sight to behold the green that’s appearing covering the brown and all the signs of new life. Motorcycles out and about are a welcome site also and the riders all dressed in their Black Leather Motorcycle Jackets, chaps and gloves.
On a more serious note for motorcycle rider’s there some riding tips to keep in mind. Number one is remember we in the north are coming out of the winter season and there is allot of sand on the roads and salt residue. It takes several hard early spring rains to get this off the roads and some of it stays in the corners all summer! Remember slow down and look for danger and don’t forget to do a thorough wash of your bike if riding this early season to get the salt off or you’ll regret it later. Happy and safe riding!
Camaraderie It’s Great
The camar
aderie that motorcycles present is unbelievable. Motorcycles bring together all types of people from all walks of life. They bring together valued and varying opinions about all subjects. If you need an answer put the word out and someone in the community knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who gets the answer you need.
There are events galore all season which you can attend and people come sporting there Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket and some sort of apparel representing the motorcycling community or different organizations they are involved with. There are so many great motorcycle organizations to be a part of some of them are H.O.G. and there local chapters which are H.O.G. chapters though a dealer. There’s Abate which also has many chapters and do allot of good things through rallies and fundraisers. Get involved in the community you won’t regret it Motorcyclists are great people.
Motorcycle Season
The motorcycle season here in Wisconsin looks like it’s on the horizon. We’re having warmer weather the snow is almost gone and the waters running. Been having some rain which really takes the snow away. I really was hoping the ground hog was right would have liked to see a little longer snow season.
The signs of the new season are here the bike shops are having cabin fever days with bargains an the latest in Leather Motorcycle Jackets and all the rest of the leather motorcycle accessories. All the latest and greatest in motorcycle apparel and motorcycle accessories are on sale. The spring fundraiser and other hog chapter events are starting as well as planning for this years rides.
Spring Is Near
Well its the
beginning of march and spring must be getting close here in northern wisconsin. The snow is melting the ground is starting to show and the water is running. The thought of finding a place to store and prepare the sleds for another season of storage.
Now visions and thoughts of riding motorcycle are everywhere. Motorcycle ads are everywhere showrooms hove made there switch from winter to summer and the sales on winter apparel are everywhere. Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket displays along with other motorcycle accesories are showing up everywhere. It’s not for me but you’re even seeing an occasional motorcycle out and about. Wouldn’t advise this as it’s aweful hard on chrome and bike accesories not to mention alot of sand on the roads yet. Happy dreams the bike season isn’t far away now!
Choosing Motorcycle Gloves
Well we’ve been talking about everything motorcycle in these posts and one thing we haven’t talked about is gloves. Like all the other motorcycle accessories they should also revolve around safety. Like our Leather Motorcycle Jacket, our helmet, our chaps and our motorcycle boots, gloves should also be an essential part of our riding gear.
There are several styles and types of riding gloves available. Depending on the kind of riding you are doing has a great deal to do with what you choose for gloves. The fingerless gloves may look cool but in my opinion do little in the way of protection. Look for top grain cowhide leather gloves for strength and durability. Make sure the glove is made with a means of preventing the glove from coming off in case of an accident. Make sure the glove fits well and isn’t binding as in most instances you’ll be wearing them for long periods of time.
Motorcycle Boots
Just like any
thing else with motorcycles there’s always allot of different opinions on what to wear when riding a motorcycle. If you have ever laid a motorcycle down and look at your clothing afterward you will look at it and say I’m sure glad I wore that. Motorcycle Boots are no different than a Men’s Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket you buy them with safety in mind.
In my opinion there are several qualities to look for when purchasing a pair of motorcycle boots. Look for soles that are made of slip resistant material especially on wet or oil slick pavement. There are good quality lighter weight soles available but are usually not resole able so keep this in mind but unfortunately there aren’t many cobblers around anymore. Look for a boot that gives good ankle support, either a lace up or a good zippered boot can have the same advantages of the lace ups. A good boot will have toe protection. We usually think steel toe but the new hard leather toes are sufficient. They’re much lighter too! When coosing a boot consider if the boot will stay on the case of an accident. If it comes off it won’t give you much protection. Consider comfort in the purchase as at most events we go to there is considerable walking to do. It is possible to get all that is needed in a boot and still have a comfortable boot with protection. Have a happy and safe riding season!
