Motorcycle Cleaning

l motorcycle cruising season isn’t that far away and it’s time to think about getting the motorcycle out of the corner and getting it ready for the new riding season. If you were smart you gave the bike a good wash before putting it away for the season making the whole project a little easier. Where do you start and what should you do.
I always start with a fresh wash just to get all the dust accumulated from the winters storage. Next I dry the bike or let it sit and dry normally. I personally have a bagger so I take the bags off when I wash the bike this also makes cleaning and waxing easier. Its a good idea to do a thorough cleaning and waxing of all painted, chrome and aluminum. There are allot of cleaners and waxes on the market so research and find the ones that fit your needs best. If you have a leather seat I would recommend cleaning and treating this also. While you’re at the leather clean you might as well get your Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket and all your other leather accessories to clean and treat them at the same time.
It’s always a bigger thrill riding a clean bike. I like my bike clean when I leave on a ride enabling me to show off all the chrome that makes it a head turner. Avoiding Water Damage to Your Leather Jacket
Purchasing a new black leather motorcycle jacket always makes for an iconic addition to any closet. In fact, whether you like fashion or not, you can’t deny that there’s nothing better than the smell of a new leather jacket. For many, that distinctive smell even rivals the new car smell. And it’s indisputable that the feel of a new leather jacket also can’t be beat. Especially if you purchase a high quality leather jacket, the luxury offered by the piece is sure to enhance your closet for years.
But leather jackets can also be a temperamental fashion item. Rain can all but ruin a leather jacket if there is excessive exposure. After trying to decide whether or not to purchase a leather jacket, I finally broke down and really splurged. I was so pleased until I walked out of the store donning my new acquisition into torrential rain. When I got home, the jacket was spotted all over with water rings and other water damage. Battery Care
I don’t k
now about you but me there isn’t a bigger pet peeve than going out to start my equipment and having a dead battery. A few simple maintenance items on a regular basis can eliminate a lot of headaches.
First when installing a new battery make sure to coat terminals with dielectric grease or anti corrosion product. Most good automotive supply houses have it. If you have problems during the season check and be sure all connections are tight if not tighten. Look for corroded connections clean coat and reconnect if you find any. I now have battery tenders on my batteries if they sit for long periods of time as the new computer and C D I systems seem to have a small draw all the time. If not using battery tenders unhook and remove batteries and store in a warm place and periodically charge them.
As with all maintenance even our Black Leather Motorcycle Jackets need to be looked at and taken care of. If we want our bikes and our equipment to provide us with superior service we have to maintain and care for it.
Ride Preparation
Ok so the we
ekend has arrived and we have a big ride planned. We’re gonna see some beautiful sites and take in a new dining establishment and maybe even stop some place for ice cream what a treat on a hot summer day. There are so many great sites to see right here in the great state of Wisconsin and its great to experience them with fellow riders.
It’s important to prepare for these rides. We need to check our bike over very thoroughly to make sure there are no mechanical issues that could arise during our ride. Take a good look at your tires and check tire pressure. Check and make sure all your safety and rain gear is on board and ready to go. Make sure you have your Black Leather Jacket on when you head out on your rendezvous. I recommend you have your helmet on also but that’s an individual right. Make sure you have a safety and survival kit packed also you never know what might happen. Have a safe and exciting riding experience and enjoy all the wonderful sites God has given us.
Preparing For A Trip
Well it seems you’re finally gonna be able to take that first motorcycle trip. You’re all excited and can’t wait for the big adventure. You’ve had gotten together and talked the trip over and have everything all planned out all your route and the final destination. But did you research and make all the necessary plans for the provisions needed for the trip?
There are several necessary provisions that need to be considered before heading off on that big adventure. It is necessary to do every thorough check of your bike making sure that all your tires are in good shape and that all fasteners are tight and in good shape. If you aren’t sure of how or what to check have a buddy help you or have a qualified shop do it for you. Make sure you have adequate clothing for all weather conditions. You don’t want to be caught in a rain storm without rain gear or run into cold weather without clothing to keep you warm. Another thought is to make sure you have protection from the sun and wind such as long sleeved shirts preferably white and plenty of sun screen.
I roll a complete change of clothes shirt,pants,underwear and socks up tight it saves space and is easy to unpack. You should have your own navigation tools GPS, maps in zip lock bags or other waterproof containment, a first aid kit of some sorts containing bandages, tape, band aids, aspirins and some sort of antiseptic salve. You should also have a supply of water and food for emergencies you never know what might happen. And a word of advice if you’re traveling in hot dry sunny conditions make sure you keep yourself hydrated.
We all know or should know the most important is our safety gear being our Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket, chaps, helmet, leather riding boots and gloves. Pack wisely putting heavy gear on the bottom and lite on top and don’t overload. Have a happy trip and ride safe.

Wow your’e gonna purchase your first leather jacket what a feeling! There are so many styles and kinds and colors of leather to choose from. The feel and 
the smell of new leather is almost overwhelming almost as good or better than the smell of a new car and alot cheaper to!
A few tips when purchasing always look at and check the quality of the leather. Check to make sure the leather has been treated for water resistance you don’t want it to water spot. Wardrobe Purchases for Longevity
There is a large collection of people who believe that fashion is a frivolous pursuit. They can’t understand why anyone would spend so much time, energy, and money on something that is fundamentally ever-changing. While there is some truth to this argument, it doesn’t mean that fashion is a worthless pursuit. It just means that if you’re overly concerned with getting the most out of your (clothing) investments, you’re going to want to purchase a very specific type of clothing.
First and foremost, buy everything in classic colors. Patterns are likely to fall in and out of favor, but solid monochromatic colors will always be stylish and chic. This will help particular pieces of clothing stay relevant in your closet longer, thus causing them to represent a greater value. If value is your target, you will also want to purchase items made in sturdy, reliable fabric such as leather. Christmas Party
As I eluded to in an earlier post it is a good idea to join a local hog chapter for the advice and camaraderie Saturdays annual Christmas party proved another success. the laughter fun and games not to mention the great food and annual awards. Discussions about motorcycle riding and motorcycle safety were discussed. There were many Black Leather Motorcycle Jackets
amongst the attendees.
The comaraderie and tails of rides that were had by fellow bikers got a person motivated and excited about next years riding season. Rides and reservations were discussed by many. It’s always an inspiration to me listening and watching the excitement of all my fellow hog members. The concern and care that is represented by all of the members is greatly appreciated. I’m hoping that all my back issues are resolved by this riding season so that I can participate in all the great rides and events that were discussed and planned for next season.
Preparing Your Motorcycle For Storage
Well if it hasn’t already been done it’s time to prepare your bike for the long winter. Here are the things I prefer to do when preparing my bike for the winter. I take the bike for one last ride to make sure I haven’t forgotten any repairs that need to be addressed. Next I make sure it has a full tank of gas to prevent condensation as a full tank keeps exposed metal to a minimum and I add a good fuel stabilizer. After the stabilizer is added the bike should be run for a period of time to make sure that it is throughout the entire fuel system.
The engine oil should be changed to remove any harmful deposits accumulated since the last oil change. These acids can cause unwanted corrosion inside the engine over the winter. If the bike is going to be outside or in a cold environment the battery should be removed. If stored inside in a warm environment a battery tender or maintainer can be used to keep battery charge at a safe level. If equipped the bike should be placed on the center stand this helps relieve pressure from the suspension components. The bike should have a good thorough wash to remove any harmful residues or chemicals that may be on the bike as these may cause rust or corrosion. The bike should be covered to keep it dry and dust free.
And last but not least make sure that there is protection from varmints like mice. Place dryer sheets around bike or some type of poison to keep those varmints away. Make sure your your Black Leather Jacket, your rain suit and all the rest of your gear are removed and stored in a good clean safe environment. It would be a good idea to clean and treat your leather jacket and other leather accessories before storing for the winter.
If you have the privilege of a heated shop or garage it would be a good idea to clean and polish your bike over the winter months so its ready for spring. When the weather turns it’s nice to be ready for the season. If these steps are taken I’m sure your experience in the spring will be rewarding. The bike should start and perform as usual.
Common Motorcycle Myths
One thing I hear on a regular basis from other riders is that cars don’t care or respect them. This might be true to a certain degree but as motorcycle riders we have the responsibility of making ourselves visible . We need to stand out and be visible. I hear from allot of riders say that loud pipes make other drivers more aware of motorcycles. It may be true to a certain degree but if you really think about it the exhaust is directed out the back making most of the noise go in that direction. I still feel as an avid rider that the biker has to be more and more aware of his or her surroundings. It is the motorcycle riders responsibility to make or try to make others aware of the fact that he or she is on the road. Ride responsibly if in groups stay tight so that other motorists don’t attempt to get in the middle of the group.
Join a motorcycle group such as a local HOG chapter. They do allot of good things for the community and provide allot of good camaraderie. Our chapter has monthly meetings and safety seems to come up at most of these meetings. The myth that motorcycles are dangerous may have some merit but alotof that danger can be alleviated with good safe responsible and attentive driving. Remember safe driving techniques and make others aware of your presence. Remember ride for yourself and always wonder what the other guy is gonna do.
