A Beginners Guide For Women Riders
The first question that always comes to mind in any new adventure is where do I start. Since women are so different than men it might help to find a women mentor who has allot of riding experience. Women tend to be more supportive of one another than men do. Don’t let anyone be vague or sugar coat what riding is all about.
I’m gonna give you some basic starters and you can expand on them from hear. Number one you need to buy or borrow a bike to practice on. Preferably something smaller, easy to handle and easy to start. Know how and where all the controls are and become real familiar with them before attempting to ride. Make sure the bike is insured just in case. Number two make sure you have safety gear. This should consist of a DOT approved helmet, a Womens Leather Motorcycle Jacket
that fits properly, a good pair of leather boots that cover the ankles and provide good traction and finally a pair of leather gloves. Third you should find a good source of instruction. This could come from the motorcycle safety foundation or a trusted friend or spouse . Make sure whomever you choose is very supportive and knowledgeable. Remember you dont want to learn bad habits. Fourth you need a place to practice both before and after you get your liscense. Preferably a big open paved parking lot. Practice the maneuvers you were taught do it in a practice area where you’re safe from the elements that others throw at you on the open road. Be comfortable with your bike and your ability as a rider when you hit the road. And fifth but probably most important you need support and encouragement. Find someone who is supportive and that will give good strong safe advice. Someone that will find the right answers to your questions if they don’t know the answers.
Thats it in a nutshell, take it, research it, implement it, be strong and have faith in yourself. Take your time learning and your riding experiences will be truly life changing.
